This riff came to me during a gig. I knew that there was magic in this song (you don't come across songs like this one that often.) The lyrics flowed out while typing them. It really came together.
I knew, at one point, that the song needed a mandolin at the end of it. Added just the right touch. Love this tune.

YESTERDAY'S NEWS

Dwelling upon the events, the events of what has passed.
I'm feeling so heavy as if I'll never get out of this mess.
Then I look around at the fields I stepped into.
There's a lot of wreckage and I don't know what to do.
CHORUS:
Please don't tell me I'm wrong
Please don't tell me I'm wrong
Just tell me I've got a long way to go
And that'll help ease the pain and the mess of yesterday's news
See my friends up ahead - their eyes all aglow, faces beaming
Until I see it's a mirror - they're behind me, screaming in agony, seething
Please don't tell them they're wrong
Please don't tell them they're wrong
Just tell them that they've a long way to go
And that'll help ease the pain and the mess of yesterday's news
BRIDGE:
I've stepped up ahead and I've stepped behind
I've been all over with nothing to find
Same old story - so why is there no change?
All we want are answers when we won't question the game.
Feel your hand in mine, and I look over to see your smiling face.
Your love is divine, and I've never, never felt so near the sunshine.
I won't tell you you're wrong.
So please don't tell me I'm wrong.
'Cause if being with you here is wrong.
It's better you here than alone with the mess of yesterday's news.
