As 2012 winds down to a close, I take a moment to reflect on what has been one of the most eventful years of my life. As I have stated before in previous writings, I am brought to the realization from my bandmate and good friend, Petar Kecenovici earlier this year: "Remember, David, life is about balance. For every good, there's something bad. And vice versa. EVERYTHING lives and goes by this." I must say - this year has proven this paradigm to be true. So, when I think about it, this year has been ALL good - in a way. Truly. And, when I look back, 2012 has been an exceptional year. Were there tribulations? Yes. Of course. Who doesn't have them? Nonetheless, would I change anything that has happened to me this year? Not a thing. For those whom I've encountered this year (both old friends and new friends,) those whom I've gained, those whom we've lost, those who I've collaborated with, those who I've talked with, hung out with, loved, laughed with, traveled with and those who I've shared my life, time and space with (and vice versa,) I can't thank you enough for all that you have done for me. I have learned many lessons. I have gained much in experience and in memories. I have stumbled along the way as well. Regardless, I am forever richer because of everything. I am extremely grateful and I thank you all. For those whom I have yet to meet, encounter (in person or in an ethereal sense,) I look forward to what 2013 has to offer. As you read this, I want you to know that whatever you have gone through (or may be going through,) just remember that nothing is permanent or eternal. All things pass. This helps me whenever something painful happens. I have yet to enjoy each moment to the fullest when the good comes along. I'm claiming progress, not perfection (which doesn't exist.) "There is a difference between striving for excellence and striving for perfection. The first is attainable, gratifying, and healthy. The second is unattainable, frustrating and neurotic. It is also a terrible waste of time." - Edwin Bliss If 2012 is any indicator as to what 2013 will bring, I welcome it with open arms. We, as Classical Blast, are already getting gigs booked well into October. Classical Blast is also looking to record its debut album within the next two months (which we have already been approached about numerous times. "Patience, grasshopper." Trust me - we're dying here as well. However, we know that the wait will be well worth it.) Also, I, as a solo artist, will continue to write new songs and am looking to expand my solo career in the midst of life. I am moving things around and planning the next tour, webcasts (hear that, KAVUS fans?) There may be another album or release in the works. I can't make any promises (or rather, resolutions) just yet. Just know this: There WILL be surprises and good things in store. I wish you all a Happy, Healthy, Joyous, Prosperous and Wonderful 2013! If you're going out tonight, PLEASE celebrate responsibly and be safe, ok? If you have no plans, join Classical Blast for our NYE celebration at Ballydoyle in Bloomingdale - 152 Stratford Drive, Bloomingdale, IL 60117 (www.ballydoylepub.com.) For those in the Michigan City, Indiana area, we'll be rocking well into the New Year's celebration on New Year's Day at Blue Chip Casino from noon to 4pm (www.bluechipcasino.com) Come join us! Peace, love, music, laughter, life, charity, art, David Kav p.s. And now, for a song - something I wrote and released on SoundCloud in August 2012. Enjoy! It's called "All The Joy." This is something that I wish for everyone: https://soundcloud.com/david-kav/all-the-joy
